Prayer For Our Nation
By Rev. Glenn Pav
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humblethemselves and pray and seek my face and
turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14, Heavenly Father, we come before you today to beg your forgiveness, to seek your direction and to request your guidance.
We know Your Word says in Isaiah 5:20:
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”
Yes, Lord, “Woe to those who call evil good,” but that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us
free. Test us and know our anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in us,
and lead us in the way everlasting (Psa. 139:23-24).
We join the prophet Jeremiah and agree in prayer (Jeremiah 20:12):
“O LORD Almighty, You who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let us see your vengeance upon them, for to You we have committed our cause.
This we pray in Jesus’ Name and for His sake. Amen!
